"Pubnico Trawlers Ltd. Began in 1978 as a groundfish harvesting company. With one 45’ wooden trawler and two crew members. Captain and Company President, George Cunningham began fishing the banks off the Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy. The team fished the Atlantic waters for the next four years, until a decision was made in 1982 to enter the groundfish processing business. The Vessel was sold, and a processing plant was built. The next several years were spent working hard to become the highly respected business Pubnico Trawlers is today. Presently the plant employs 25 residents producing a variety of pickled and dry salted products derived from several species of fish."
